Contains general business correspondence, 1923-1949, including invoices, bills and correspondence from suppliers of raw materials, machinery and services necessary for production; orders and correspondence from American and foreign customers; salesmen's expense sheets; correspondence with government agencies and industrial associations, particularly the Card Clothing Manufacturers Association; and advertising folders. Also contains a notebook discussing the history and methods of woolen and worsted manufacture, including the processes of scouring, carding, backwashing, gilling and drawing, with a discussion of wool and yarn grading, the characteristics of various natural and man-made fibers, and leather tanning. There is also a financial statement from 1935.

Located in Andover, Mass. and organized in 1921 as the Merrimack Supply Company, the firm took the name Merrimack Card Clothing Company in 1923. Its officers were Henry D. and Julius Rockwell, formerly of Davis & Furber Machine Co. The company manufactured and sold card and napper clothing, leather tapes, press board and shear brushes.
